Contest Overview

World Children's Webtoon Contest Poster

How did prehistoric people communicatebefore the invention of writing and paper?

They used drawings. Drawings on the ground disappear quickly, but drawings carved into rocks can last for a very long time. Traces of people drawing on rocks can be found all over the world, dating back tens of thousands of years.

The Bangudae Petroglyphs and Cheonjeon-ri Petroglyphs in Ulju, Korea are among those examples. Because of their outstanding historical value, the rock carvings left by the people of Bangudae 7,000 years ago were listed as a World Heritage Site in 2025.

ust as people once drew on paper, today we create drawings using computers. When these digital comics are shared on the internet, they are called webtoons. Webtoons have become a global cultural language enjoyed by people around the world.

Inspired by the tradition of drawing on rocks, we are hosting the World Children's Webtoon Contest for creative children everywhere.

We warmly invite your participation.
